Book Review: Discipleship

Discipleship: Living for Christ in the Daily Grind
by J. Heinrich Arnold

This compilation of short devotional reflections is geared toward the modern reader with a busy schedule. It would be a great addition to any daily prayer and devotion routine. It has been endorsed by Henri Nouwen, Mother Teresa, and J├╝rgen Moltmann, among others.

Arnold encourages the reader to go beyond the lukewarm Christianity of today and to truly engage with God and participate in the Kingdom here on Earth. While it is technically easy to read, it is the sort of book that is best read in short sections in order to really absorb what Arnold is presenting to the reader.

There is much talk today about "authenticity," but little application of this popular word. This book calls the Christian into a truly authentic relationship with God. It is about love and action, justice and the mission of God, and loving God and neighbor.

This is a great addition for any shelf and would work well for private or small group devotional times.
